Last summer, we ran a book fair at Providence Hospital in Centralia, and because school was out for the season, I brought my daughter with me.

What a serendipitous turn of events that was!

She was an amazing sales woman, a 9-year old dynamo of product knowledge and excitement. I couldn’t keep certain items in stock when she hit the sales floor.

This past fall, when we ran the Holiday Fair at Providence, I was inundated with questions by hospital staff as to where my daughter was. So on the second day of the fair, I took her out of school and brought her along.

I mean, what’s the point of being a book fair rep if I can’t determine my own “Take Your Daughter to Work” day?

Again, the results were amazing. Apart from being a personable and adorable sales lady, my daughter had the product knowledge down. She could talk the talk as good as any trained sales rep.

And she was a big help straightening out the books, restocking, quoting prices, demonstrating product, and let’s not forget: bringing mom lattes!!

Whether it’s bringing one or more of my kids to work with me, or having them help shelve inventory, pack crates or receive deliveries, one of the most fun aspects of being a rep for Books Are Fun is the family involvement.

From our family to yours, thank you for making Books Are Fun your book fair vendor! We look forward to a long and happy relationship.
